Train tracks cut straight from the orange groves to the heart of the city where the packing houses used to be. Since property is worth so much more than orange trees, most of the groves have been cut down, and the tracks covered with pavement.
Every night, Josh and I would leash up Tia, and walk her downtown for ice cream. Avid walker is a label Josh wears proudly.
Our walking routine is a tad different here, especially now with two kids. The corner drugstore is Kayden's stop of choice for a ring pop 2 for 1 special. The only problem is that we have to cross a really busy road, and due to construction the crosswalk has been closed for two years.
After a long week inside, we headed out for a walk. Once we got to the busy street, I pushed the stroller, held Kayden's hand, and carried the big wheel while running to the other side.
Two red ring pops were purchased.
Upon our return, we waited and waited and waited to cross the road. Just when I thought we were in the clear and we started across the road, Kayden dropped his ring pop, leading to us back up, rearrange, and wait for another opening.
I honestly felt like I was in a real life game of Frogger.
Five light cycles passed without an opening, and finally I told Kayden we would just have to walk to the other light about 300 yards away. We crossed, and worked our way back to our street.
By the time we got to our street, I was internally grumbling. I could feel brewing. I was pissed off at MDOT, I am not going to lie.
The reason for our street construction (for the second summer in a row)?
Apparently, MDOT believes Michiganders cannot turn left. They are putting in another Michigan U-Turn.
I know this has been a previous topic, but it is really old.
I miss turning left.
