"The outside of your garment should be as beautiful as the inside of your garment."
Maxine is an elderly woman that works at Fields. We gab about all sorts of things while I am waiting for my fabric to be cut.
Her grandchildren, my kids, latest projects....and we always, always talk about the inside of clothing.
Well, I do not subscribe to Maxine's philosophy. I am a pretty messy seamstress at heart. I much prefer to slap something together than take the time to finish my seams properly.
If I can make it work with seventeen extra basting stitches....that is what I am going to do.
A little while ago, I came across this adorable dress.
Which costs $120.
No, I did not impulse purchase it:-)
I asked my friend, Natalie, if she knew who made this fabric. Nat's knowledge of fabric is extensive; she is always making the cutest stuff for her girls.
This is the end product, altered a little bit because I decided I wanted a sleeve:
The best part is that I took my time and serged all my inner seams (thanks, mom, for watching the kids so I could get a few solid hours sewing!).
