In the past few years, my mom has had the help of the best ear surgeon in GR. He is the only specialist in this area trained to do cochlear implants and some of the more complicated ear procedures. One of the biggest questions we have always had was, Will my mom eventually not be able to hear at all?
**I am saying "Scooby Dooby Doo" and Bryce is saying "Where are you?"***
My mom can actually read his lips, but it really wouldn't be the same as hearing that sweet baby voice.
***insert looming political music***
Recently, Dr. Daniels said that ObamaCare will effectively put him out of practicing medicine. I joke about being political, but it is a very real fear that she will lose her ability to hear in the next few years without continued medical help. ObamaCare does not deem hearing (at my mom's age) worth medical intervention, so my hope is that she can get anything and everything she needs done in the next few years before Dr. Daniels stops practicing medicine.
After that, it will all be out of pocket if we can find a specialist. Seeing that the bill for this last mini-cochlear was pretty hefty, we all are afraid of what this means for the future of her hearing.
In the mix of all this, I have taken to teasing Josh about his choice of president.
Then today I found out that, out of all the things in the world ObamaCare could impose a tax on, this healthcare reform imposes a 10% additional tax on tanning salons.
And I just find that deliciously funny.

Sorry, that video is really shaky! I had a better one, but accidentally cut off Bryce:-)
You are hilarious and deliciously naughty for teasing your hubby like that!
I didn't love Mc Cain but he seemed a better choice, yes?
Thanks Laurie- he sure is fun to tease!
I did not love McCain until after the elections. I thought too much was made out of Palin being added to the ticket and McCain got lost in the process.
Reading up on this healthcare has me worried.
You are one brave lady, but I love the post! It was one weird election, and no hard feeling toward Josh. :) Politics, grr... Hope your mom gets all she needs. What great hope you've found with this doctor!
In all fairness to Josh, I actually thought about voting for him, too! :-) I had an easy out because I had the flu on election day.
I was not a huge McCain supporter (liked Romney myself) but I loved Palin (ready for tomatoes to get thrown at my face) because I believe she really represented good 'ole honest America....with that being said....
ObamaCare makes me sick. You know, there are all sorts of articles going around about doctors being pushed out of the field, middle class families being taxed to the hilt - everyone is taking sides and passionately. But I don't think people TRULY get how negatively this new healthcare plan is going to affect us all, until you hear stories like this.
I am praying Jamie. Praying that SOMEHOW we can stop this healthcare plan from becoming a reality and praying for your mom, that she is able to get the continued care she needs....
I agree with you, Kami. I don't think people want to put the time into researching what will actually happen. They flippantly say "Oh, well, it is a step in the right direction" without even realizing what they are signing up for.
Thanks. I just hope my mom never goes deaf because of not having the money for ear care. She has paid her entire life into insurance, only to fail her when she needs it?
Oh, and I actually liked Romney, too! Next to my guy, Ron Paul, he is my second choice for the next election.
