Transported

The Year: 1988
Place:Terry Hall, Grandville, MI
Event: Roller Skating Party
Mission: get asked by some other boy classmate for "boy's choose free skate"
Memories: Sweaty Palms, concession stand with awesome candy, backward skate, classmate speed races, loud 80's music blaring, disco balls, and the hokey pokey. Can't you just smell it? They all seem to smell the same.

Tonight was the skating party for Dutton Christian and I felt transported. Apparently this roller skating hall has been the exact same for thirty years, so although it was a different rink than I went to as a child, it looked so similar. Maybe all of them look 70's disco themed.
Nostalgia...don't you love it?

I loved skating parties! Too bad boys would never skate with girls! I would always go home with numerous blisters! I thought I ROCKED at rollerskating! Seriously, what was I thinking?

I skated with Scott Schrotenboer, my jr. high boyfriend. It was so embarassing, knowing my parents were watching...but so worth it!

Stacey just brought back the memories of the blisters...OUCH!

I remember a hand full of times where I would be cruising along to some radical 80's song (like maybe Two of Hearts) and all the way gaining momentum...here comes a turn...WIPE OUT! So much for trying act cool!

Terry Hall rollerskating, I advise you to watch who your children skate with. Really, Jude and I skated together in 4th,5th, and 6th grade. I will never forget my dad coming to pick me up and said that her and I made a "cute couple". Little did he know! Oh, I had my eye on her. Girls choice, Boys choice, and Grand March we were a dream. Our music was of the 60's. Thanks for that flash from the past.

Hey Chelle - I dated a Scott Schrotenboer in highschool until his parents said that he was too young to go on single dates and he had to go on double dates from then on ... sorry but see ya Scott ... I was a cool senior after all. Same guy?

Laurie,

totally the same dude!
He moved from Moline to the big city (GR) and went on to better women apparently too :) You and I just have to meet in real life one of these days!

Ahh, Terry Hall. Rob was a speed skater, he skated every Saturday. He thought he was so cool. I hated the people that would fly by me with their arms behind their backs.
