Prayer, part two

I just love it when Kayden prays.

The sweetness of his voice.

His head swinging side to side like Ray Charles.

The lack of concentration.

Complete and total innocence.

The funny things he thinks of to pray for, including his "girlfriends Amber and Kara"and any truck or car nearby.

Tonight, mid-prayer, he says "Lord, why aren't Melo's eyes closed?"

"And, Mom, neither are Baby Boys"

He promptly closed them, and then continued to pray for the bread stick he was so happy to eat.

I love age four.

The City of Redlands used to be full of orange groves. Our first apartment was located right next to a city block full of orange trees. If you have never had the opportunity to smell orange blossoms in the coolness of a mid-March spring night, you are missing out. It is heaven.

Train tracks cut straight from the orange groves to the heart of the city where the packing houses used to be. Since property is worth so much more than orange trees, most of the groves have been cut down, and the tracks covered with pavement.

Every night, Josh and I would leash up Tia, and walk her downtown for ice cream. Avid walker is a label Josh wears proudly.

Our walking routine is a tad different here, especially now with two kids. The corner drugstore is Kayden's stop of choice for a ring pop 2 for 1 special. The only problem is that we have to cross a really busy road, and due to construction the crosswalk has been closed for two years.

After a long week inside, we headed out for a walk. Once we got to the busy street, I pushed the stroller, held Kayden's hand, and carried the big wheel while running to the other side.

Two red ring pops were purchased.

Upon our return, we waited and waited and waited to cross the road. Just when I thought we were in the clear and we started across the road, Kayden dropped his ring pop, leading to us back up, rearrange, and wait for another opening.

I honestly felt like I was in a real life game of Frogger.

Five light cycles passed without an opening, and finally I told Kayden we would just have to walk to the other light about 300 yards away. We crossed, and worked our way back to our street.

By the time we got to our street, I was internally grumbling. I could feel brewing. I was pissed off at MDOT, I am not going to lie.

The reason for our street construction (for the second summer in a row)?

Apparently, MDOT believes Michiganders cannot turn left. They are putting in another Michigan U-Turn.

I know this has been a previous topic, but it is really old.
I miss turning left.

First, I forgot to give the guessing game end date. Get your guess in before Wednesday if you are looking to win some baby legs. Even if you don't have baby legs to outfit, you can enter for the satisfaction of knowing you are the absolute best at guessing the length of time a latex balloon stays afloat.

Hmphf.

I wanted to share a Mother's Day prayer from my little boy:

"Dear Lord, thank you for grandma, who buys me lots of cars."

Amen, and amen.

We had a great Mother's Day. After last year, anything would have been an improvement. Lately I feel like most of my day consists of four words, repeated over and over and over:

"Leave your brother alone!"

I am so thankful for my boys and the joy they bring to our life.

Even when they are hitting each other with the plastic golf clubs. Bought by Grandma.

A Guessing Game

How long did this blue latex balloon stay afloat?

Winner to receive one pair of Green Ribbed Babylegs.

One guess per person:-)

Since you enjoyed the slide show so much...

OVERHEARD

"Mom, you're not supposed to let anyone touch your privates."

Thanks, Kayden, for the anatomy lesson.

Thanks for holding on to that one until we were eating dinner with the in-laws.

That was thoughtful of you.

Easter

Easter morning, we talked about what our expectations were of Kayden.

"You are going to be good in Sunday School, right?"

"No hitting other kids, okay?"

"When we go to Grandmas for the egg hunt, you need to share with baby boy."

After you open your easter basket, you need to say thank you to Grandma and Papa.

I was feeling pretty confident, I am not going to lie. Kayden is normally pretty sweet dispositioned, and loves candy, so how could easter activites go wrong, right?
One picture.

I asked for one picture, one NICE picture, of our family on Easter.

Mission accomplished, don't you think?

Here's a sweet slideshow, for my one faithful blog reader. That's you, mom.

Can you tell we were coloring?

It was just supposed to be on the paper, not his face.
